Re:  Incoming Sixth Grade Orientation - Robert R. Lazar Middle School

Dear 6th Grade Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to Lazar Middle School!!

We will host 6th grade student orientation  on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. While we await further guidance from the NJDOE, our current plan will mimic previous orientations. End times are subject to change dependent upon future parameters and clarification.

As in the past, students will be assigned to one of two groups:

Group A will consist of students who attended either William Mason, Cedar Hill, or Woodmont.  Students are to report to Lazar from 9:00AM -10:30AM.

Group B will consist of students who attended Hilldale and Valley View or are NEW to our district.  This group will report to Lazar from 12:00PM-1:30PM.

If, for any reason, a student is unable to attend the designated orientation, please contact your student’s counselor . Respectfully, we request that students only attend their designated orientation.  Please do not switch groups for any reason.

The program will consist of various activities intended to ease the anxiety associated with transitioning to middle school.  Our presentation will start with a group discussion of a typical day at Lazar. Special attention will be given to sharing information about courses, schedules, homework, school rules, dress code, and social events. Students will be introduced to the Building Principals, School Counselors, and other Support Staff members.

A student created video orientation will be shared in August as well.

Counselors are assigned alphabetically:

Ms. Mazur: Abelson - Coletti (marissa.mazur@montville.net)

Mrs. Gonzalez: Colfin - Kilmer-Setrakin (jessica.gonzalez@montville.net)

Mrs. Meenan: Kirankumar - Roth (deborah.meenan@montville.net)

Mrs. Rappaport: Sakklos - Zhang (susan.rappaport@montville.net)

Once again, I would like to welcome all of the students and their families into the Lazar community.  We hope that all of you are as excited as us to share in this experience.

Sincerely,

Mr. Michael Pasciuto
