Superintendent Dr. Rene Rovtar has prepared a video of the history of OneMontville Green In Day that will premiere on the OneMontville YouTube Channel at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 20.

Green In Day is a day when all who live in, work in, or visit Montville Township, NJ, are asked to wear green. The 6th Annual Green In Day will be held Friday, May 21, 2021. This tradition, which began in 2016, was designed to create a big, visual, green, display of color. The event was created by a community of volunteers, known as OneMontville, whose goal is to raise awareness of Acceptance, Respect and Kindness for all.

The Superintendent of Montville Township Public Schools, Dr. Rene Rovtar, founded OneMontville and Green In Day in the fall of 2015. By spring of 2016, the first Green In Day was held. She has made a video about the history of Green In Day, OneMontville, and the organization's missions to raise awareness of Acceptance, Respect and Kindness. The video will premiere on the OneMontville YouTube Channel at 11:30AM, Thursday, May 20, 2021.

“It has always been our dream to see a sea of green wherever one goes in Montville on Green In Day,” Dr. Rovtar explains.

This display of green is in support of Acceptance, Respect and Kindness, the motto of OneMontville.

“Wearing Green is a big, visual display that demonstrates that, while we are all different individuals, we comprise a very special community – one that cares deeply for one another,” Rovtar says.

Over the past six years, OneMontville has held numerous educational events, activities, presentations and displays, which have all been designed to help neighbors get to know neighbors. The events are structured to introduce members of the community to the diverse traditions of the many different cultures that enrich the community and make Montville Township a very special place to live. OneMontville activities not only celebrate similarities, but also embrace the differences of all who live in, work in, or visit Montville.

The mission of OneMontville is to create and promote a climate of acceptance, inclusion and kindness, which teaches and celebrates respect for one another by embracing and being enriched by the diversity that comprises the Montville Township Community. The mission can only be fully accomplished through the involvement and commitment of community leaders, religious leaders, business leaders, and residents of all ages, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, gender identity or sexual orientation.

“I love the fact that Green In Day gives us a special opportunity, each year in May, to celebrate the beauty and strength of the people that comprise our community,” Dr. Rovtar notes, “and to be reminded that any community that is focused on Acceptance, Respect and Kindness, is an awesome place to call home.”

The Montville Township community is asked to wear green for Green In Day 2021, Shop Locally in support of Montville businesses, and to share photos of themselves in green at OneMontvilleCommunications@gmail.com. OneMontville can be found on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Green In Day photos, videos and updates will be posted there throughout the day on May 21, 2021.
