August 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope you are enjoying a relaxing summer. Faculty, staff, custodians, and maintenance crews are hard at work preparing for the  successful and exciting start to the 2022-2023 school year.

In my initial weeks on the job, I have met with many MTPS educators and community members.  I am thoroughly impressed with what I have seen and heard.  There is so much pride for the district and a genuine interest in maintaining the excellence that is the hallmark of the Montville Township Public Schools.

We are very fortunate to have added 16 great faculty and staff members to our schools this year. Over the past five years, the district has hired 18% new faculty and staff. This fall, we have nearly 600 Montville Township Public Schools employees returning to educating approximately 3,500 students in grades preK-12.

The mission of the Montville Township Public Schools is “to develop well-rounded, invested, and inspired students by engaging them in an experience of collaboration with educators, parents, and community that fosters a culture of innovation, character, and inclusivity in a shared spirit of pride.”  To accomplish this, we will work together to continue establishing the highest quality of learning through a powerful and rigorous learning environment.

Over the past two years, the pandemic has challenged us in unimaginable ways, reinforcing the significance of the MTPS motto - Educate. Inspire. Empower. The faculty and staff modeled these skills in the schools as we learned new technology, redefined assessment, created inclusive classrooms, and supported the students in their learning.

I highly encourage all students to get involved and participate in the many music and art opportunities, athletic teams, and clubs and activities offered.  Being involved in the four “A’s” of an educational experience: academics, arts, athletics, and activities allows a student to reach his or her fullest potential.

I look forward to working with you, your children, and the entire community as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and envision the future of the Montville Township Public Schools.

Respectfully,

Signature of Superintendent Dr. Thomas A. Gorman.
