Valley View School is ideally seated atop a scenic hill in Montville Township overlooking a spectacular view of surrounding communities. It is from this vantage point that children are welcomed into a nurturing environment that focuses upon the whole child and encourages each youngster to do his/her personal best. Our parents, teachers, and administrators are committed to working collaboratively to optimize the academic, social, and emotional development for all of our children.
Valley View is the largest elementary school in Montville Township and serves approximately 370 students in a Pre K through Grade Five elementary setting. Balanced literacy, problem solving, and scientific investigation are the order of the day. Our established Pre-School Program serves children ages 3-5 and addresses particular needs in language and other developmental areas.
Our faculty champions Valley View's standards of academic excellence and is committed to on-going professional growth. Teachers impart their own enthusiasm and love of learning to their students. High academic standards underpin lesson planning and challenge students to work to their potential. Activities such as Author Study, Math 24, the Annual Science Fair, STEAM projects and Project ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) complement and expand the curriculum at various grade levels.
Our PTA is an integral part of the success of Valley View. Members generous donation of time, creativity, and expertise in fund raising enhance numerous district initiatives and provide supplemental materials, supplies, and equipment that help to optimize instruction and learning and to expose children to the cultural arts. Activities such as our Laser Light and Anti- Bullying assemblies, and our annual game nights and parent/child dances are just a few examples of programs provided by our PTA. These not only deliver appropriate and timely messages to our students but also expose them to the arts as a viable career path.
Our children are encouraged to be respectful, responsible, and reliable citizens of our learning community. They are commended for their contributions on a monthly basis. Students recognized as “Citizens of the Month” serve as models of good conduct for the school. Our upper elementary peer leaders serve as Peace Makers under the supervision of their club advisors. Peer leaders assist their fellow students in solving problems in a peaceful and cooperative manner. Students learn the value of mediation, compromise, tolerance, and mutual respect. Members of our Safety Patrol assist with transportation logistics, bus etiquette, and bus safety. Our Student Council elected executive board plans activities that promote understanding of and active participation in school government.
Additionally, Valley View School hosts a plethora of curricular and extracurricular activities and programs. These include an after school enrichment program, vocal and instrumental music, a strings program, art enrichment, Spanish, Gifted and Talented, Basic Skills and Special Education. Valley View also houses MEDLC, a before and after school care program staffed by highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.
Valley View's motto inspires and guides our daily practice. Children, parents, teachers, and administrators trust that Valley View is a school “where all children can learn!”
